Answers:

1. What does IBS SC (German FSR IBS) actually mean?

IBS SC stands for International Business Studies Student Committee. This is a translation of the
German abbreviation FSR for the word “Fachschaftsrat” and simply means the IBS course student
   committee.

2. How is the committee made up?

The committee is composed of IBS students from all semesters of study. Therefore they all and have
had their own experiences and are aware of student problems. New faces are always welcome!.

3. What does the faculty committee actually do?

We organise the freshers’ week at the start of winter semester, keep an eye on how things are
running, organise excursions, IBS parties and give advice about examination regulations and problems
with organising studies or other difficulties. A good working relationship exists with the HG WING in
    organising various events.

4. Why is the election of the SC so important?

The election is the legislation of the members of the studenet committee. However, you also decide
about the executives of the IBS SC. The election is held at the end of every summer term and the
result last for the following academic year.

5. What does the so called FSV actually do?

The FSV is the most important student committee within the faculty WW. Its members are elected out
of the Student Committee of WiWi, Business Computing Science and IBS. Its function is to controll the
three student committees of the faculty.

6. What is the WiWi faculty committee?

The WiWi committee can be seen as being exactly the same as the IBS SC, but in this case it deals
with all other economics-based courses and not just IBS. The Business Computing Science
department also has its own student committee.

7. What is the difference between the faculty committee and the university group?

Until the winter semester of 2003/2004, IBS student representation took the form of a university group.
The difference with the faculty committee is that we now have more influence within the faculty. This is
also an advantage for you if there are any problems with the course of studies.

8. What does the General Student Committee actually do?

The General Student Committee is the most important committee elected by the students within the
university of Paderborn. Its members are also members of politicl student committees and therefore
the General Student Committee is like the "student government".

9.What is the difference between the General Student Committee and the IBS SC?

The IBS SC and the General Student Committee have no direct contect and do not belong to an
identical group of the student committees. Besides this organisational seperation, both SC work
together in various aspect of the student's life in Paderborn.
